Eight people — seven adults and a child — and two dogs were displaced early Tuesday morning after a fire in a shed in the north Clairemont area spread to a duplex.
“It appears to be accidental, possibly smoking,” San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Kevin Pendleton told Onscene.TV. “The cause is still under investigation.”
The fire reportedly began at 2:34 a.m. Tuesday, when some rags caught fire in a shed outside a duplex at 4535 Clairemont Drive.
The person was able to leave the shed as the fire spread into the residence.
San Diego firefighters arrived and put out the fire and the displaced people asked for the American Red Cross to help them and their dogs.
No injuries were reported.
