A man accused of fatally stabbing a Clairemont resident earlier this week at the victim’s home pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a murder charge.
Raul Marquez, 28, is accused in Monday’s stabbing of 67-year-old Floyd Todd Budd, who was found dead from multiple stab wounds inside a Bowden Avenue home.
Officers were initially called just before 2:30 a.m. to the home and found Marquez in the residence’s driveway holding a knife and wearing bloody clothes, according to SDPD Lt. Steve Shebloski.
After arresting Marquez, officers found Budd’s body inside the home, the lieutenant said.
According to police, Budd and Marquez knew each other, but the extent of their relationship was not disclosed.
On Wednesday, Marquez was arraigned on the murder count, as well as an allegation of using a knife in the killing. He also faces an allegation of committing the killing while out on bail in a separate case, the specifics of which were not disclosed.
If convicted of all counts and allegations, Marquez faces 58 years to life in state prison, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
Marquez remains jailed without bail.
